Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global and national health issue. According to the Global TB Report 2024, Indonesia currently ranks as the country with the second-highest TB burden, following India. In line with global policy developments, the TB control approach has transformed from the DOTS strategy toward the End TB Strategy launched by the WHO in 2016. To ensure that implementation in the field is more uniform and practical, it is necessary to develop more detailed operational guidelines in the form of Technical Guidelines for the Management of Drug-Sensitive Tuberculosis (DS-TB).
These technical guidelines are intended to serve as a guide for the management of DS-TB for program implementers at the central and regional levels, as well as other stakeholders—including public and private healthcare facilities, laboratories, and TB program partners—to ensure that the implementation of DS-TB management follows established standards and reaches all segments of society. These technical guidelines cover the workflow for presumptive case finding, diagnostic confirmation, treatment for the general population and special conditions, management for children and adolescents, clinical interventions and prevention (including Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment/TPT), logistics management, infection prevention and control, monitoring and evaluation, patient-centered care, and funding support.
