World AIDS Day: History, Significance, and the Importance of Global Awareness
World AIDS Day: Strengthening Commitment and Ending Stigma for a Healthier Nation
Every December 1st, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia reaffirms its dedication to the national response against HIV/AIDS. This year’s World AIDS Day serves as a critical momentum to accelerate the achievement of the "Three Zeros" targets: zero new HIV infections, zero AIDS-related deaths, and zero discrimination against People Living with HIV (PLHIV).
The government remains committed to expanding inclusive healthcare access, ranging from early detection facilities to consistent Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment. We emphasize that eliminating stigma and discrimination is essential to ensuring that the public can access health services without fear. Social stigma only hinders efforts to prevent and control the virus.
We urge all citizens to take an active role by undergoing voluntary early testing at the nearest healthcare facilities. Let us work together to promote a healthy lifestyle, provide support for those affected, and strengthen our collective synergy toward achieving an AIDS-free Indonesia.
